Mohamed Najim born in Morroco 1945 has received his Doctorat d’Etat in Toulouse (1972). He spent 16 years in the Rabat University where he set up a laboratory rooted in the morrocan economy. He created the ENSIAS the first engineering school in computer science in North Africa. In 1988 he held the first chair in Signal and Image Processing created in Bordeaux and established partnership with Total, SAFRAN, Thales, CEA… and leaded consortia within the European Framework Programs. He authored 8 books and more than 200 papers. His previous Ph D students are enrolled in more than 10 countries. He lectured in all the continents.

Since 1988 he is an IEEE Fellow member and currently a Live Fellow member. He got the A. Shuman Prize Award in 1982, the TWAS Academy engineering prize, 2011, and the highest Award of the EURASIP Society (EURopean Association of Signal and Image Processing in 2013. Since 2000 he was decorated the highest distinction of the Kingdom of Morroco. He received the French distinction Palmes Académiques in 2016. He is currently an emeritus Professor.

 

 

Dmitri Tcherniak has jonied Bruel and Kjaer Sound and Vibration Measurements A/S after a PhD in Applied Mechanics at Marine Technical University of St. Petersburg. He is the technical leader of research and commercial projects concerning structural dynamics and structure health monitoring / machine diagnostic. He participate in research activities targeting the development of innovative instrumentation and algorithms in the field of experimental structural dynamics.

Experimental structural dynamics/modal analysis;
Damage detection/localization via vibration monitoring.
Non-linear vibrations;

  • 31 years of experience in research, 27 of these in structural dynamics with the emphasis on signal processing for system diagnostics and identification.
  • EPSRC Advanced Fellowship on An Holistic Approach to Damage Identification, January 1998 - December 2002.
  • EPSRC Established Career Fellowship on S3 - Disease Surveillance for Systems and Structures, April 2013 - March 2018.
  • 3 Books, 582 papers (191 archival journal papers) and 73 technical reports in the fields of structural dynamics and theoretical physics.
  • Direct involvement in £14.3M of funding secured since October 1994 - £12.3M as Principle Investigator.
  • 93 invited presentations, including 18 plenary/keynote lectures.
  • H-index: 35 (Web-of-Science); 45 (Scopus); 54 (Google Scholar).

  • Several times invited as visiting researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratories, USA. Former visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge.
  • Currently, Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, Visiting Fellow at University of Strathclyde and University of Bristol.
  • Member of the EPSRC peer review college for Mechanical Engineering.
  • Member of Technical Committees of EASD (European Association of Structural Dynamics).
  • Former co-ordinator of the European COST programme in Structural Dynamics working group WG2 on Structural Health Monitoring.
  • Committee member of (former EPSRC) network on Structural Integrity and Damage Assessment - SIDA. Former co-chair.
  • On the editorial board and Subject Editor for international journal: Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing.
